A Woman and a Donkey

A bit cliché, but the almost caricatural image of this very typical westernized upper class Tehrani woman in the middle of the rural inland of Iran is somehow striking.

I met the odd couple on the path leading to Chak-Chak, one the most sacred Zoroastrian shrine (Zorostrianism is a religion and philosophy based on the teachings of Zoroaster – also known as Zarathustra, who lived in Persia around 1100 BC). The site is located on a mountain a couple of hours away from Yazd, in the middle of a rocky desert.
